About us

Welcome to the ecological camp “El Sotz”.

El Sotz’ camp, which means “bat” in Itzá Maya language, was devised to provide our friends in the world, nature lovers and lovers of a balanced ecosystem, a unique and nouvelle type of lodging in Guatemala, which was founded in 2001.

In El Sotz’ you will have a unique approach to nature.

Our greatest desire is that your stay is pleasant and memorable. We want you to know that you are in a purely ecological environment which offers a great balance between man and nature.

Thus, we want to give the opportunity to our guests so they can enjoy the experience of integrating
into an environment of singing birds, jungle sounds, fulfilling vital energy from fresh oxygen and tropical
humid weather in northern Petén.

We are located at the epicenter of the Maya eco touristic route, at the eastern end of Petén Itzá lake,
by El Remate Village, in the Municipio de Flores, 28 km (17.39 miles) down the road leading from Santa
Elena to Tikal.
This perfect location will allow our guests to have a smooth and short trip to the different archeological
sites and quickly return to rest at the hotel at the end of the day.

Besides the existing rainforest in the camp, you can take trips on foot to cerro CahuĂ biotope, the
archaeological site Ixlú, salt lagoons Macanché and Sal Petén, or sunbathe and swim in the most
beautiful part of Petén Itzá lake.
Photographs at sunrise and sunset from “El Sotz” with Petén Itzá lake and Cerro Cahuí biotope as
background can only be described as breathtaking and unique.

We invite you to discover our services:

We have many options that will make your stay with us, a relaxing experience, or an adventurous approach to the nature of the Petén jungle. You will find an option just perfect for your life style.
